Hall Monitors Still Needed for SOL Testing

Hall Monitors Needed for SOL Testing

We need hall monitors during SOL testing which is starting in May.

Please consider volunteering for a couple hours.

Hall monitors keep the halls quiet and monitor the restrooms, so there is plenty of time to read a book or do any quiet work (i.e. computers, ipads, tablets, etc.).

If you have already signed up for a shift, thank you!

Monitors are needed for each of the following days (9:15-11:30ish):

Tuesday, May 8th                    5th Grade Reading
Tuesday, May 15th                  5th Grade Math
Thursday, May 17th                 3rd Grade Math
Friday, May 18th                      5th Grade Virginia Studies
Tuesday, May 22nd                   5th Grade Science
Wednesday, May 23rd             4th Grade Math

If you are able to help for any of these dates/times please contact Nancy Brase at 973-8301 or nbrase@k12albemarle.org .

Please let me know the date you are willing to volunteer (1st and 2nd choices).  If you are able to volunteer for more than one shift, we would appreciate it.

Thank you for your willingness to help our students during this important time.

We want them to have every chance of succeeding and your time volunteering will help!

National Physics Day Show – April 25th!

NATIONAL PHYSICS DAY SHOW

The 25nd annual physics day demonstration Show will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018 in room 203 of the physics building, 382 McCormick Road, at the University of Virginia to celebrate National Physics Day. Admission is free.

This highly anticipated event is a special physics demonstration show for the general public, especially for K-12 students and families. Parking is available in the parking garage on Emmett Street or, after 5:00 pm, in the football stadium lots.

The theme of the show this year is Physics at the Movies. Physics professors Cass Sackett, Olivier Pfister, Xiaochao Zheng, Bob Jones, and Jeffrey Teo along with several UVa physics students will introduce the crowd to science phenomena that the movies get right or wrong, often in interesting ways.

Bring your family and friends, but come on time.

For more information about this free public event call Jessie Thacker at 924-3781 or email at jt2pj@virginia.edu
