If You’re Visiting the School…
We work hard to make our school a welcoming place for our students as well as their families. It is also important for us to follow the county’s safety plan for checking in. This requires all visitors to log in to the security system. If you plan on entering the school for lunch, or any other reason be sure to bring your driver’s license.
It is ACPS County policy that all visitors register in the system and then log in using their ID any time they plan to enter the school.
You may also use an out of state driver’s license, DMV identification card or any other U.S. Government Issued ID. If you do not have this identification, please bring in identification from another country, your work, or something similar, and the office staff will input your information into the system.
Please know that your first visit will require a bit more time to check in so plan for that.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 434-973-8301.
Lunch Times by Grade:
K – 11:25-11:50
1st – 11:50-12:15
IMPORTANT – Change of Dismissal Information: Change of Dismissal Form
Please be sure to send in this form if your child’s regular dismissal plan is changing for the day.
Dismissal Forms are *REQUIRED* for DI Club, SCA Meetings, Foster Art Class, Yearbook Meetings. Also, it is very important that we get changes before 1:00pm in order to allow time for processing and distributing the info to our staff members. Finally, DO NOT email dismissal changes. We need them faxed or sent in with your child on the day of the change.
Thank you for your support of our policies. We want to be sure our students are safe and accounted for at the end of every day!
***Procedure for Reporting Student Absences and Late Arrivals ***
We have implemented a new way of reporting student absences and late arrivals.
For your convenience, we have set up an email address that you can use to communicate this information. It is firstname.lastname@example.org
We will also continue to take absence/tardy information over the phone, as we have in the past.
When you call or send an email, please include the following:
- Student’s First and Last Name
- Grade and Teacher’s Name
- Whether the student will be absent or tardy (If tardy, approximately what time will your child be arriving)
- Days/Dates your child will be out
It is very important that we receive this information by 8:30 am the day your child will be late or absent.
If we don’t hear from you we will call to ensure that your child is with you and safe!
Finally, feel free to call or email the office in the evening if you know that your child will not be attending school the next day.
We will check all messages when we arrive at school in the morning.
If you have any questions regarding this information, please call the main office at 434-973-8301.
Attention 5th Grade Parents!
Please review the information below regarding two activities that will be of interest to 5th grade parents and students:
1 – Parents of 5th grade students are invited to Sutherland Middle School on January 24, 2018 from 6:00-7:00 pm. The Sutherland School Counselors, Ms. Lisa Wright and Ms. Heather Lindsay, will share information about the transition to middle school, programs that Sutherland has available for students, and information about course selection for next year.
2 – On Friday, January 26th at 8:40 am the School Counselors and Exploratory (Chorus, Band, Art, Strings, Computer Skills, etc.) teachers from Sutherland are coming to Hollymead to talk with all 5th graders. They will share information about classes, schedules and answer those burning questions our students have for them. After this information session, students will be given information to take home about all the courses offered to 6th graders. I know they will have a lot to discuss with you as they excitedly decide what exploratory classes they will select for next year!
