PE Notes – Challenge

Dear Parent and Students,

In PE class tomorrow, 11/14,  we are participating in the Guinness World Book record challenge for  “Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations in One Day.”    This is taking place all over the world.    Visit the website below to see more information and see some amazing videos.    Students can look at the website that evening and see all the countries and locations that participated.   The goal is 500,000 stackers all over the world.

 http://www.thewssa.com/stackup/2013_stackup/blueprint/

We are also making it an event to help the SPCA.   We’ve asking students to look around their homes and bring in an item that the SPCA could use.   No need to go and purchase something just see if you have any of these items listed below that you don’t need and bring it to the gym.
This correlates to our 8th grade mental health unit we just completed on how helping others makes us feel good about ourselves.    We know the 6th and 7th can benefit from that too!

Thanks for your help!,
Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Shiflett

Community Discussion: How Would You Design Sutherland for 21st Century Learning?

Dear Sutherland Families,

Please plan to join us in the first of a series of planning sessions
to explore and determine what changes in our instruction, organization and design would support
the most effective ways for preparing your children for the greatest success in high school and beyond:

Thursday evening, November 14th,
7:00P-8:30P
SMS Media Center

You may wish to review the documents about the School Division’s goals

and lifelong learning skills listed at the following link:  http://www2.k12albemarle.org/acps/division/planning/Pages/default.aspx

We would recommend Horizon 2020 Summary, Lifelong Learning, Board Priorities, and Goal and Objectives.  This could help you generate ideas and questions.

We hope you will join us and help us design the best program possible.

Sincerely,
Dave Rogers and Tracey Saxon
