Our community is volunteering to help with the Day of Caring Wednesday. Please thank all hard working volunteers from UVA when you see them.

 

Math Honor Society applications will be due today. Students can get the link from their Trig, Math Analysis or Calculus teachers or the QR code on the bulletin board outside of  B110 (Mrs.Lohr’s room.)

 

 

Applications for 9th graders interested in County Student Council are now available outside room B201. Please see Ms. Miracle or Ms. McLaughlin with any questions.

 

Are you interested in being a part of WAHS Squad? Attend an interest meeting on Tuesday in C105!  WAHS Squad is a great way to meet people, get independent study credit, internships, and community service hours.  See Mrs. Dahl with questions

 

There will be a meeting for everyone interested in helping backstage with the fall show, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), on Wednesday first half of lunch in Ms. Pitts’ room, C106.

Are you prepared for a day of amazing entrepreneurs, cool activities, and stuff that will blow your mind? Come on the Tech Tour! We’ll be heading out on October 10 to see amazing things! What have we seen in the past? Robotic dragon flies, car crash testing, fiber optic internet, a government site so secret I’d love to tell you but I can’t, applied chemistry.  You want to see these things. You want to see all the the Things. Permission forms available in B112 or the counseling office.

If you lose your laptop charger be sure to look for it  in the lost and found located at the front office. If your name or an identifying mark is on the charger, we will be able to return it to you. If your name is not on your charger, we won’t be able to return it to you. Take a minute to put your name and a really cool sticker on your charger. This way, we can help you get your amazing charger. Thanks everyone, don’t lose your charger.

 

The Regional College Fair will be held at Albemarle High School this year on Sunday, September 17 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.  This free event is open to all families, and will give students the opportunity to meet with college representatives from over 80 colleges.

September 18th– George Washington University, John Hopkins, Lynchburg College & Wake Forest University

September 19th– George Mason University , Hollins University, & Virginia State College

September 20th – Vanderbilt, Kenyon College & Bridgewater

The Varsity Football team lost to Collegiate on Friday night, 33-14. The team prepares to play Powhatan this Friday at 7:00 P.M. Make to plans to come out and cheer them on!

 

The Varsity Golf team plays in a District meet at Glenmore today. The match begins at 10 a.m. Go Warriors!

 

The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.

Athletic Announcements

 

The Varsity Field Hockey team lost to Albemarle last night, 5-1. The JV Field Hockey team lost, 1-0. Both teams play Collegiate this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The JV game will be played on the upper field. The Varsity game will be held at the stadium. Come out to see the teams in action! The stadium will be cleared after the Field Hockey  game to prepare for the football game tonight.

 

The Varsity Volleyball team lost to Albemarle last night, 3-0. The JV and Varsity Volleyball teams prepare to host Powhatan on Tuesday night at WAHS.

 

Come out tonight for the Varsity Football game against Collegiate! Discounted tickets for use by WAHS students will be sold at lunch today for $ 4.00 so save

$ 3.00 by getting your ticket early! Rally towels can be purchased at lunch also!  Game time is 7:00 p.m. so get in the stands early to cheer on the team when they take the field!

Athletic Announcements

 

Congratulations to the boys Cross Country team on their win at the City /County meet yesterday.  Joseph Taylor, Joe Hawkes, Jack Eliason, Max Miller and Cyrus Rody-Ramazani took places one through five for a team score of 15. Will Koester and Joey Paulson finished out the scoring finishing seventh and twelfth.

 

The girls cross country team won the meet yesterday against Albemarle, CHS and Monticello. The team was lead by Zoe Clay, Alyssa-Santoro-Adajian and Jenna Hill.

 

 

The  JV and Varsity Volleyball  teams have their first home games tonight against Albemarle. Game time for JV is 6:00 p.m. with Varsity at 7:00 p.m. WAHS students get in free so come out to see the team in action!

 

The Varsity Golf team won over Fluvanna yesterday, 165-171. Nathan Vance was medalist in the match. The WAHS Golf team plays again on Monday at Glenmore Country Club.

 

The JV and Varsity Field Hockey teams host Albemarle tonight at the WAHS turf field.  Game time for JV is 5:30 p.m. with Varsity at 7:00 p.m. The JV and Varsity Field Hockey teams will also host Collegiate High School on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The Varsity game will be at the stadium and the JV game on the upper lacrosse field. Make plans to come out to cheer on the teams!

 

Come out Friday night to cheer on the Varsity Football team as they take on Collegiate at WAHS. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets for use by WAHS students will be sold at lunch tomorrow for $ 4.00. Tickets at the gate are $ 7.00. Get your ticket early and avoid standing in line at the gate!

Cy Ward is this year’s minister of snacks for the WAHS Squad. This means he will provide an incredible amount of snacks & treats throughout the year to all students at Western on the WAHS Squad. If you are interested in snacks and learning more about the WAHS Squad join us on Tuesday in Ms. Dahl’s room C105. It’s 2017 y’all. Let’s do this.

The Varsity Volleyball team won at Eastern View last night, 3-0. The JV and Varsity teams will travel to play at Fluvanna tonight. Game time for JV is 6:00 p.m. with Varsity at 7:00 p.m. The teams will also have their first home matches against Albemarle on Thursday. Good luck Warriors!

 

The Varsity Girls Cross Country Team finished 3rd at the Knight’s Crossing Invitational.  The team was led by 3rd place finisher Zoe Clay.  Zoe’s time earned her the ranking of #1 senior in the state of Virginia.  The team was also lead by Juniors Alyssa Santoro-Adajian and Jenna Hill. The Boys and Girls Cross country teams will run in a meet at Panorama Farm on Wednesday afternoon.

 

The JV Girls Cross Country Team finished 2nd at the Knight’s Crossing Invitational.  The team was led by senior Christina Webb finishing in 8th place.  Other top finishers were 8th grader Austin Winslow, sophomore Jessica Bilchick and freshman Caroline Jones.

 

Make plans to come out Friday night for the Home opener for Varsity Football. The team will host Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. Discounted tickets for WAHS students will be sold at lunch on Friday for $ 4.00. Gate price is $ 7.00. Season passes are on sale in the athletic office. Get your ticket early and avoid having to stand in line!

 

There will be a short meeting today at the start of lunch in  B220 – Mr. Bledsoe’s room for all new members of the swim & dive team.

 

Softball , Baseball and Girls Lacrosse out of season practices have started. Check out the athletics website for schedules. Students need to turn in VHSL physicals for this school year to participate.

Students who are enrolled in a PVCC Dual Enrollment course at WAHS this year are reminded that they must attend a mandatory meeting today in the auditorium at 12:05.  The meeting should last less than 30 minutes.

The Varsity Football team lost to Botetourt Friday night, 17-14. The Warriors play at home this Friday night against Collegiate School so make plans to be there !

 

The Boy’s Cross Country team finished 5th in a field of 33 teams on Saturday at the Knight’s Crossing meet in Salem Virginia.  The team was led by 3 top 25 individuals.  Joe Hawkes finished 11th, Jack Eliason 14th, and Joseph Taylor finished in a field of 284 runners.

 

The Boy’s JV Cross Country team finished 6th in a field of teams on Saturday.  The team was led by one top 25 finisher.  Joey Paulson placed 23rd in a field of 283 runners.

 

The Varsity Volleyball team played in the Albemarle Invitational tournament this weekend. The team won 3 games and lost 2 games. The JV and Varsity Volleyball teams travel to play at Eastern View High School today. Game time for JV is 5:30 p.m. with Varsity at 6:30 p.m. Good luck teams!

The Varsity Volleyball team won over Waynesboro last night, 3-1.  The Varsity Volleyball team will compete in a tournament at Albemarle High School on Saturday. First game begins at 9:00 A.m. Come out to support the team!

 

The Varsity Football team travels to play at  Lord Botetourt High School tonight . Game time is 7:00 p.m. Good luck Warriors!

 

The Varsity Golf team defeated CHS yesterday. The Golf team will compete in a match at Woodberry Forest School today. The match begins at 2:00 p.m.

A reminder to all 9th graders, you should report to your TOPS class when the bell rings today at 12:25.

 

 

Students who are planning to take the October 7th  SAT are reminded that the deadline to register is This Friday, September 8. 

 

 

Auditions for the fall play, the Complete Works of William Shakespeare abridged, and the fall one-act play, will be after school today. Sign up on the theatre bulletin board or see Ms. Pitts with questions.

 

 

The Regional College Fair will be held at Albemarle High School this year on Sunday, September 17 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.  This free event is open to all families, and will give students the opportunity to meet with college representatives from over 80 colleges. 

The following Colleges will be visiting WAHS;

Sept6-Colby College

Sept 7- Elon University

Sept 8- University of Richmond

September 12- Sewanee College & Emory University

September 14th– Widener University

Athletic Announcements

 

 

Baseball out of season practice is cancelled for today.

 

The JV Football team plays Lord Botetourt tonight at the WAHS turf field. Game time is 6:30 p.m. WAHS students get in free so come out to support the team !

 

The Varsity Golf team is scheduled to play CHS today at Pen Park. The match starts at 4:30 p.m.

 

There will be an important meeting today for all Boys interested in 9th, JV & Varsity Boys Basketball. Out of season practices will be discussed. Meet in D104 at 12:15 p.m.

 

There will be a short meeting at the start of lunch on Thursday in Mr. Bledsoe’s room for all returning members of the swim & dive team.    There will be a short meeting next Tuesday at the start of lunch in Mr. Bledsoe’s room for all new members of the swim & dive team.

 

Listen up for announcements about any changes in the out of season practice schedules due to the weather. Students taking part in out of season practices need to have physicals turned in to the athletic office before participating.

 

The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.

The Robotics Club is looking to recruit new members. Come to the cafeteria after school today to meet the teams and learn about robotics at Western.

The Varsity Girls Field Hockey team travels to play at STAB today. Game time is 4:30 p.m. The JV team also plays at STAB at 6:00 p.m. Come out to see the teams in action!
