~Senior portraits are due to yearbook tomorrow, November 15. Check the yearbook website for details about what’s appropriate for your portrait. All portraits should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
~Seniors interested in the field trip to PVCC on Friday can still sign up with Ms. Bertrand in B112.
~SENIORS! Please remember that ALL transcript requests for colleges with January deadlines must be in to your counselor by the end of this week – November 17. Many college deadlines fall on January 1st, and we want to be certain that all of your materials arrive to your school on time. Since counselors will also be on Winter Break, our goal is to complete all transcript requests prior to leaving for the break. Please see your counselor with any questions or concerns.
~Come and sign the pledge to be tobacco free at lunch today and learn more about nicotine.
~Attention AVID students – There will be a mandatory meeting on Thursday, Nov. 16th at 12:20 in Mr. Walsh’s room (B214). You must attend. Be there.
~Albemarle High School will have an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and Resource Fair on Thursday, November 16 from 5:00 – 7:30 pm in the AHS Cafeteria. Students who are interested in HBCU’s will have the opportunity to talk to admissions reps from those schools. Please see your counselor for more information.
~There will be an interest meeting for everyone auditioning for the spring musical, Legally Blonde, this Wednesday, second half of lunch in the auditorium.
~The WAHS Drama Department is performing the Complete Works of William Shakespeare this weekend!
~On Wednesday at 6pm we there will be a free to students dress rehearsal, and on Thursday , Friday and Saturday evening the shows start at 7:30pm. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults.
~Students in grades 10 through 12 are invited to take the ASVAB test at WAHS on Tuesday, November 28th at the beginning of the school day free of cost. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude test which helps students identify, understand, and organize information about your skills, interests, and work-related values. In addition to these qualities the ASVAB is also required of all persons interested in pursuing a military career although you do not have to want to join the military to take the test. Students must signup to take the ASVAB by this Friday, the 17th in the counseling office with Ms. Davis. If you have any questions please see Ms. Barnes.
~The WAHS Fall Art Show is now open at the Crozet Library. Please come out to see beautiful student artwork from Art, Ceramics, Crafts, Digital Media, and Photography Classes. The show will be up until December 11th.
~Congratulations to WAHS Robotics! Her Majesty’s Engineers came in third place out of 36 teams after the qualifying rounds and played in the semifinals. The robot was very consistent and could perform an impressive variety of tasks. The team won the Motivate award. We did not qualify for States this time but we’ll try again January 13.
~Students if you have signed up for a college visit at WAHS, please remember to show up at the designated time, no passes to leave class will be given. Your teachers are aware that you are on the list.

~The Fall Sports Awards Program will be held tonight in the main gym. Plan to meet at 6:30 p.m. and bring a dessert to share with the group. Pepsi will provide the drinks. The program will start at 7:00 p.m.
~The Scholastic Bowl team will compete at Louisa High School on Wednesday night. The meet begins at 6:00 p.m. Good luck team!
~Winter season passes are on sale in the athletic office. Get your passes early before the first games which will start after Thanksgiving break. Student season passes are $ 25.00. Adult season passes are $ 50.00. Family annual passes are $ 220.00 for Winter and Spring season home games.
~The Winter Sports Parents meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 15th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. There will be a general meeting about the sports program then each team will break out in groups.
~After School Weight training and conditioning will start after Thanksgiving break. It will be held on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday afternoons. Students need to have a VHSL physical form on file in the athletic office to participate.
~The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.
