WAHS ANNOUNCEMENTS

WAHS News**********

Seniors, your senior portraits with Lifetouch will take place on Tuesday, October 29, and Wednesday, October 30. You can find what time your picture will take place on the lists in the cafeteria, outside the library, and outside Mr. Hughes’s room, B211. Any questions or concerns should be sent to wahsyearbook@k12akbemarle.org.

The final Powder Puff games will take place today during lunch on the Warrior field.  Come out and enjoy the sunshine and festivities.

Purchase your Homecoming Dance tickets this week during lunch in the cafeteria.  Tickets cannot be sold at the door, so get your ticket now. $10 for Seniors, $12 for underclassmen

Today is the last day to turn in HOCO guest forms.

Karaoke fun will be during lunch on Thursday in the cafeteria.  Come out to watch the talent of your classmates

Family Feud has been moved to Friday during lunch in the Cafeteria.

Beginning Monday, October 28 all students must have a pass to come to the library for any reason during class periods.

Attention Students taking AP courses: If you are planning to taken an AP exam you must register between now and October 29th either before school, at TAB, or during lunch in the counseling office. Per College Board’s policies the total cost for each AP exam this year is $94 and a $40 non-refundable deposit fee via cash or check is required at the time of registration for each exam you plan to take, checks should be made out to WAHS. You are welcome to pay for each of your exams in full if you would prefer to do so. In addition to submitting your payment you must also turn in the registration form that was mailed home to you. Extra copies are on the WAHS counseling website. If you have any questions or need assistance paying for AP exams please contact Ms. Barnes in the Counseling Office.

Congratulations to the WAHS Field Hockey team for defeating Louisa 7-0 last night. Kira Repich had 3 goals, Charlotte Bynum added 2 goals and Caroline Teague & Addie Patterson had one each. The JV Field Hockey team won 3-0 over Louisa. Both teams return to action Thursday against Orange County High School.

Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team for winning against Louisa last night 3-0. Sarah Rhea had 11 kills, Caity Driver had 9 kills, Annabella Pandelli had 23 assists, Amelia Nichols 13 digs, Natalie Peck 6 digs & Bella Plummer had 3 aces in the win. The JV Volleyball team won 2-0. The Volleyball teams travel tonight to play at Albemarle High School in a big District match up . The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. with Varsity at 6:30 p.m. Let’s get some fans there to cheer on the teams!

The WAHS Cross Country teams compete in the District Cross Country meet today at Pleasant Grove Cross Country Course in Palmyra. The Meet starts at 3:00 p.m. Go Warriors!

The JV Football team plays at Albemarle tonight. Game time is 6:30 p.m. Good luck team!

Due to the shift in the Spirit Week schedule today during lunch, in honor of sports day, we will stream the end of the UVA 2019 NCAA Championship game.

Our annual exciting Family Feud match will take place on Friday during lunch.

Remember to purchase your Homecoming Dance ticket during lunch this week.  Tickets are being sold in the cafeteria all week. No tickets are sold at the door, so get your ticket today. $10 for Seniors, $12 for underclassmen

The JV & Varsity Volleyball teams host Louisa  tonight in the main gym. Game time for JV is 5:30 with Varsity at 6:30 p.m. It is Senior night for the Varsity team so get there early to support the Warriors !

The JV & Varsity Field Hockey teams host Louisa tonight at the WAHs turf field. Game time for JV is 5:30 p.m. Varsity is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. The Varsity team will be having Senior night so come out to cheer for the Field Hockey teams!

The Girls Locker room will close at 4:30 p.m. today due to the home volleyball match. Please use D101 for personal belongings for practices.

HOCO tickets will be for sale today in the cafeteria during lunch. Tickets are $7 for Seniors & $10 for underclassman.

Spirit Week Dodge Ball players today is the day!  Please come quickly to the gym at the beginning of lunch.  We will start the dodge ball games as close to 12:10 possible.

Today during lunch Spirit Week dodge ball will be taking place in the gym.  Come down and cheer on the Freshman taking on the Juniors and the Sophomores taking on the Seniors.

Tuesday during lunch the finals of Power Puff will happen in Warrior Stadium.  Come out to the football field to cheer on the Juniors and Seniors as they play for the Spirit Week title.

The Varsity Football team defeated CHS Friday night, 38-13. The team prepares to play Albemarle on Friday night for the Homecoming Football game. Make plans to be there !

The Varsity Field Hockey team lost at Albemarle last night, 2-0. The JV Field Hockey team lost 3-0. Both teams return to action Tuesday against Louisa. It will be Senior night for the Varsity team!

The JV Football team lost a close game with CHs last night 20-16. The team will prepare to play at Albemarle next Wednesday night.

The Varsity Football team will host CHS tonight  at 7:00 p.m. Discounted tickets will be sold at the first part of lunch today for $ 4.00 for use by WAHS students only. Get your ticket early and save $ 3.00 at the gate! Make plans to be in the stands for the opening kickoff!

The Girls Cross Country team will compete in the Milestat Invitational on Saturday in Richmond. Good luck team!

Attention Seniors:  For those of you who have November 1st College Application Deadlines, please be sure that you have submitted your blue Transcript Request form to your school counselor.  As a reminder, Transcript Requests are due to your school counselor TWENTY days prior to your deadline.  Please check with your school counselor if you have any questions or concerns.

The Varsity Football team won at Fluvanna Friday night, 35-21. The team hosts CHS on Friday night at the WAHS turf field. Make plans to come cheer on the Warriors!

Members of the Varsity Golf team will compete in the State Golf tournament on Tuesday. The tournament will with held at Williamsburg National Golf Club. Good luck golfers!

The Girls Cross Country team was runner-up at the Albemarle Invitational this weekend. The team was led by Kate Ratcliffe, Sterling Hull, and Jenna Stutzman finishing in 10th, 11th, and 12th places. The varsity team was rounded out by Jackie Neilon, Jordan Stone, Ella Taylor, Charlotte ThomasClarke and Maeci Frank.

The JV girls were team champions, led by Cat Beck, Caroline Jones and Sienna Collier.

The WAHS Boys Cross Country team finished 3rd in the Panorama Invitational Saturday. Jack Eliason finished 2nd in the individual standings to lead the team. Joe Hawkes finished 7th & Joseph Taylor 30th ,  followed by Stuart Terrill, Will Bonner, Thomas Kallen, Owen Shifflett and Jack Vigilante.

 Key Club wants to thank everyone who came out & donated to the blood drive yesterday. We surpassed our goal of 31 pints with a total of 35 pints donated.

Picture retake day is Monday. The sign up sheet is located in the main office.

The WAHS Jazz Ensemble is performing at the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival this Sunday, Oct. 13th at 10am. Please come out early to enjoy some music while you attend the Festival!

Today at 12:10 in the library will be a virtual guest speaker from the WWII Museum in New Orleans regarding Hispanic and Latino involvement in WWII.  All are welcome to attend. Rho Kappa members (returning and new) please check in with Mrs. Mulcahy at the event to pay dues and confirm shirt size.

Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team for defeating Fluvanna, 3-1. The JV Volleyball team lost to Fluvanna,1-2. Both teams return to action next week against Charlottesville High School.

Congratulations to the Varsity Field Hockey team for winning over Fluvanna last night, 3-1. The JV Field Hockey team also won, 5-0. Both teams play next week against Albemarle High School.

The Varsity Golf team competes in the State Golf tournament on Tuesday. The team plays at the Williamsburg National Golf Club. Good luck Warriors!

The Varsity Football team travels tonight to play at Fluvanna High School. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Come out to support the team!

The WAHS Cross Country team compete on Saturday in a meet at Panorama Farms. Good luck runners!

The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.

There will be an interest meeting for the High School Diplomats program this Thursday, October 10th, in room B201 for the first half of lunch.

This Friday Oct. 11th starting at 12:10 in the library will be a virtual guest speaker from the WWII Museum in New Orleans regarding Hispanic and Latino involvement in WWII.  All are welcome to attend. Rho Kappa members (returning and new) please check in with Mrs. Mulcahy at the event to pay dues and confirm shirt size.

The CTOA club will have their second meeting TODAY during the second half of lunch in Bledsoe’s room B217. Everyone should come by, as we are going to begin planning our first big event of the year. We hope to see you there.

There will be a Math Honor Society meeting for current members today in the choir room. Halloween candy will be provided. Applications for new members are due Friday.

The JV Football team won their game with Fluvanna last night 21-14. The Varsity Football team will travel to play at Fluvanna Friday night. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Make plans to be there!
