The days for After School weight training for the winter season are  Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m.  This is a change from Fall season. Students need to have a VHSL physical form on file in the athletic office to participate. The winter season will start after Thanksgiving break.

~The WAHS Drama Department is performing the  Complete Works of William Shakespeare this weekend!

~Tonight and Saturday evening the shows start at 7:30pm. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults.

~Students in grades 10 through 12 are invited to take the ASVAB test at WAHS on Tuesday, November 28th at the beginning of the school day free of cost. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude test which helps students identify, understand, and organize information about your skills, interests, and work-related values. In addition to these qualities the ASVAB is also required of all persons interested in pursuing a military career although you do not have to want to join the military to take the test. Students must signup to take the ASVAB by today in the counseling office with Ms. Davis. If you have any questions please see Ms. Barnes.

~Students on Winter sports teams should have their participation fees & signature forms turned in. Forms can be found on the Athletics website under Files & Links.

~Fall sports athletes should turn in their uniforms & equipment to their coach or the athletic office before Thanksgiving break.

~Afterschool weight training & conditioning will start after Thanksgiving break. It will be held on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday afternoons. Students need to have a VHSL physical form on file in the athletic office to participate.

~Albemarle High School will have an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and Resource Fair this evening, from 5:00 – 7:30 pm in the AHS Cafeteria.  Students who are interested in HBCU’s will have the opportunity to talk to admissions reps from those schools.  Please see your counselor for more information.

~Congratulations to WAHS Robotics! Her Majesty’s Engineers came in third place out of 36 teams after the qualifying rounds and played in the semifinals. The robot was very consistent and could perform an impressive variety of tasks. The team won the Motivate award. We did not qualify for States this time but we’ll try again January 13.

~The Scholastic Bowl team will compete at Louisa High School tonight. The meet begins at 6:00 p.m. Good luck team!

~The Winter Sports Parents meeting will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.  There will be a general meeting about the sports program then each team will break out in groups.

~Fall Sport Athletes should have their uniforms and equipment turned in to their coaches or the athletic office. Please do so promptly so we can get them checked in and stored.

~The Fall Sports Awards Program will be held tonight in the main gym. Plan to meet at 6:30 p.m. and bring a dessert to share with the group. Pepsi will provide the drinks. The program will start at 7:00 p.m.

~Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country Team for their first place finish at the State Meet this weekend!  This is the first time the girls have won since 2004.  The team was made up of Zoe Clay, Alyssa Santoro-Adajian, Emily Winder, Caroline McGahren, Jenna Hill, Avery Jordan and Audrey Geis.  This is also the first time in Western Albemarle school history that both the girls and the boys cross country teams have won the state meet the same year.

~The WAHS Boys Cross Country team won the State Championship on Saturday. The Warriors were led by Individual Runner up Joe Hawkes. Jack Eliason,  Joe Taylor , Will Koester,  Stuart Terrill, Max Miller & Cy Rody- Ramazani  all placed in the top 30 for the team. Congratulations to both Cross country teams!

~Indoor Track practice for winter season starts today. Please have physicals, part. Fees & signature forms turned in to the athletic office prior to practice.

Students going to Henley for basketball practices should ride the last bus in line over to Henley. Check with Mr. Driver in the afternoon at the bus lot  if there are questions.
