WAHS News***********

Current 11th and 12th graders who wish to enter the second semester lottery may begin to do so at this time by accessing the “19-20 WAHS Semester 2 Parking Lottery” link on the Western Albemarle High School homepage. Students must be logged in to their k12albemarle accounts in order to access the form. Only students who are current juniors who did not receive first-semester parking, and seniors who did not obtain a year-long parking permit are eligible for the lottery. On December 13, 2019 at 4:30pm the lottery entry form will be closed.

Come out to support the WAHS AVID program at the Waynesboro Chick-Fil-A next Tuesday from 5-8pm. Mention you are supporting the fundraiser either in the drive-thru or inside the restaurant and a percentage of the nights profits will help support the WAHS AVID program.

Students just a reminder. The blue bins are for Recycling only. They are NOT for compost. We have students trying to pick them up daily and they cannot be recycled with food and trash in the bins. Again, the BLUE BINS are for RECYLCING only. Paper, plastic, cardboard —THANK YOU.

The Varsity Girls Basketball team won over Covenant last night, 44-37. The Varsity Girls Basketball team hosts Jefferson Forest on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. WAHS students get in free so come out to cheer them on!

The Boys Basketball teams host Harrisonburg tonight. Discounted tickets will be sold in the athletic office and at the first part of lunch on Friday for use by WAHS students only. Tickets at lunch are $ 3.00. tickets at the gate are $ 6.00 for all games. The 9th & JV games will start at 6:00 p.m. with Varsity taking the floor at 7:30 p.m. Make plans to be there!

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in E-Sports in Room D103 at 12:20 today. Come find out about this new activity at WAHS !

The JV Wrestling team will compete at Woodberry Forest School tonight. The Wrestling team will also compete on Saturday  in a meet at Kate Collins Middle School in Waynesboro. Good luck Teams!

Members of the Boys Cross Country team will compete in the Nike Nationals on Portland, Oregon on Saturday. Members of the Girls Indoor Track team will compete in a meet on Saturday at the Liberty Indoor Track complex. Go Warriors!

Students on Winters sports teams need have their participation fees turned in to the athletic office in order to be eligible for games and events. If there is a question about whether you have turned in your fees, please contact the athletic office.

The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.

Today at lunch in the library: Kate Bennis, actress and TED talk coach, will talk about the important elements of a good talk and how to improve as a public speaker. Join us for a low-stress look at how to speak in front of a group!

Mini Med is tonight at 6:30pm. Please meet in the cafeteria.

The CTOA club will have a meeting TODAY during the second half of lunch in Bledsoe’s room B217. We hope to see you there, we have a lot to discuss

The WAHS Scholastic Bowl team defeated Louisa, Orange & Charlottesville last night to remain undefeated in District competition. The team competes again next Wed. at Louisa. Go Warriors!

The Varsity Girls Basketball team hosts Covenant tonight  at 7:00 p.m. The team also hosts Jefferson Forest on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. WAHS students get in free so come out to cheer them on!

The WAHS Boys and Girls Swim teams starts their season tonight against Collegiate School in Richmond. Good luck teams!

Members of the WAHS Boys Cross Country team placed 2nd in the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional last weekend. They qualified to take part in the Nike Cross Nationals Finals this Saturday in Portland, Oregon. Jack Eliason placed 7th and Joe Hawkes 17th to lead the team in the Regionals. Stuart Terrill, Will Bonner, Joe Taylor, Owen Shifflett & Thomas Kallen will be competing for the Warriors!

The Varsity Boys Basketball team won over Rockbridge last night, 56-34. The JV team also won their game with Rockbridge, 64-37. The Boys Basketball teams host Harrisonburg on Friday night. The 9th & JV games will start at 6:00 p.m. with Varsity taking the floor at 7:30 p.m. Make plans to be there!

Winter season athletes need to turn their participation fees in today in order to be eligible for regular season events that start this week. Turn fees in to the athletic office and complete the online registration forms as well.

The JV & Varsity Boys Basketball team hosts Rockbridge County High School tonight in the main gym. The JV game will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Varsity at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the first part of  lunch for use by WAHS students for $ 3.00. Tickets ate the gate are $ 6.00.  Let’s get some fans there for the first game of the season !

Winter season passes will be sold in the athletic office and at games this week. Adult season passes are $ 50.00 for an adult and $ 25.00 for a student. Passes are good for regular season home games at WAHS. Annual & Family passes are available also.

Just a reminder to all drivers, if someone else is parked in your space please write down the license plate of the car and make the main office aware. You may temporarily park in a visitor space while we have the car removed from your space.

Attention juniors & seniors who did not receive guaranteed parking; the link for the parking lottery is available on the WAHS home page & will be available until Dec. 13th.  Please remember that second semester parking is a lottery and is only open to those that did not receive parking in the first semester. Additionally, you must access the form using your school email address and only one submission can be made. Please contact the main office if you are unable to access the form.

Make sure to go to the Western homepage to take the WAHS With A Cause survey so we can hear your great ideas!

Afterschool weight training and conditioning will start today. Students need to have a current VHSL physical form on file in the athletic office in order to participate.

The WAHS Fall show, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, will be performed tonight at 6pm, and Saturday at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door, students and senior citizens $5, adults $8.

We will have a meeting for everyone interested in stage managing, or assistant directing for the spring musical, The Addams Family, on Tuesday, first half of lunch in the auditorium.

Today Wintergreen resort will come recruit at lunch. Find out how you can get free ski lift tickets by volunteering or working at Wintergreen!

Make sure to buy a WAHS Tie-Dye T-shirt during lunch! The Junior Class Officers are raising money for this year’s prom and need to sell as many T-Shirts as possible! T-Shirts are $15 and come in any size.
