The WAHS Shakespeare Competition will be held Friday Jan. 24th at 5:00pm in the auditorium. Please see Ms. Pitts for details and sign up on the theatre bulletin board.

 Interested in setting some academic goals?  Stop by C103 or visit the TLC bulletin board in C-Wing to pick up a goal setting template.

MYRIAD”s  submission window is now open for our 2020 edition of the magazine.  See the WAHS website for submission guidelines or check with Ms. Burnette in C107.  Deadline is Feb. 5th.

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in Girls Lacrosse next Wednesday at 12:20 in room D103.

The Girls Soccer meeting scheduled for today has been postponed.

The JV Boys Basketball teams defeated Albemarle 43-40 last night. The Boys Freshman Basketball team lost 50-47. And the JV Girls Basketball team lost 22-21.

Tonight the Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams host Albemarle.  Girls at 6:00 followed by the Boys at 7:30.  WAHS students can purchase $3 tickets during lunch today.

The Girls locker room will close at 4:45 p.m. due to tonight’s home basketball games. Please use D101 to store personal belongings for practices.

Members of the Indoor Track teams will compete in a meet at Liberty University on Friday and Saturday. Good luck teams!

The WAHS Wrestling team will host an Invitational meet on Saturday. The meet begins at 9:30 a.m.

The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.

CATEC students: There will be no afternoon CATEC tomorrow.

Today is the last day to make up your mid term exams after school. If you have not done so please stop by the main office to sign up.

The Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated Fluvanna last night 69 to 58. The Boys JV team also won. The Girls Varsity Basketball team lost to that Fluvanna 46 to 38.

There will be have a meeting this Friday at 12:15 p.m. in room D103 for all girls interested in trying out for Varsity and JV Girls Soccer.

Warrior Wrestling placed 2nd out of 16 teams in the WA Warrior Duals this weekend. They also wrapped up Jefferson District wrestling last week finishing 3rd in the district. Last week Max Morrison and Joey Burch went 7-0 on the week. Warriors are up next in a Tri meet at Heritage Wednesday night. Go Warriors!

The Varsity Girls Basketball team won over Louisa Friday night, 51-41. The JV & Varsity Girls Basketball teams travel to play at Fluvanna on Wednesday night. Game time for JV is 6:00 p.m. with Varsity at 7:30 p.m. Good luck teams!

The WAHS Boys Basketball team lost to Louisa Friday night ,52-51. The JV & Varsity Boys Basketball teams host Fluvanna on Wed. night. Game time for JV is 6:00 p.m. with Varsity taking the floor at 7:30 p.m. Let’s get some fans there for the Warriors!

The WAHS Boys Swim team finished 2nd at the 18 team Ben Hair Invitational last night at UVA Aquatic Center. The team was led by Noah Hargrove who won two events, Tyce Winter who had two runner-up finishes, and Sam Johnson who had two top 5 finishes.

The WAHS Girls Swim team finished 4th in the Ben Hair meet. They were led by Kathryn Burr and Julie Addison with two top 5 finishes each. The Warriors are back in action tonight against Fluvanna at the Crozet Park pool. It is Senior Night for the Warrior teams!

The Varsity Girls Basketball team defeated CHS last night 53-37 .The JV Girls basketball team lost to CHS 39-36. The JV & Varsity Girls Basketball teams host Louisa tonight. The JV game is at 6:00 followed by Varsity at 7:30 p.m. Let’s get some fans there for the Warriors!

The Varsity Boys Basketball team won at CHS last night 65-62 in a big district match up.

The win bring their record to 4-0 in the District standings. The Freshman Boys Basketball team lost to CHS 44-43. The JV Boys Basketball team lost their game with CHS. The JV & Varsity Boys Basketball teams travel to play at Louisa tonight. Game time for JV is 6:00 p.m. Come out to support the teams!

The Freshman Boys Basketball team plays at Monticello tonight at 5:30 p.m. Go Warriors!

In Boys and Girls Indoor Track teams compete in 2  meets on Saturday. One meet will be held at VMI & one at FUMA. Good luck teams!

The Warrior Wrestling team will host a Wrestling Duals tournament on Saturday. The action begins at 10 am in the main gym at WAHS. It is senior night for the wrestlers so come out to see the team in action!

Congratulations to WAHS Robotics! All three teams performed well at Saturday’s competition. Her Majesty’s Engineers came in 6th place in the qualifying matches and participated in the semi finals. All three teams have one more chance to qualify for States. Come support us in Orange in two weeks!

There will be a meeting Tuesday at lunch in D103 for all boys interested in soccer for spring season. Please meet at 12:20 p.m. and be on time. Out of season practices will be discussed.

The WAHS Girls and Boys Swim & Dive teams will take part in the Ben Hair Meet starting on Tuesday. The Swim portion will be held at the Aquatic & Fitness Center at UVA on Tuesday night. The Dive portion will be held at Woodberry Forest School on Wednesday. Come out to support the teams!

Winter athletes should have their participation fees turned in to the athletic office in order to be eligible for winter sports. Students taking part in out of season practices need to have current VHSL physicals turned in with all 4 pages completed by parents and physician in order to take part in practices. Last year’s physical are not valid.

Please come to the library during lunch today to enjoy some snacks and swap some books. Bring any books you want you want to trade for others. All are welcome.

Students just a reminder. The blue bins are for Recycling only. Paper, plastic, cardboard. They are NOT for compost.

Cookies, Cocoa and Cramming is happening today after school from 4-8!  The Library will be open for studying, the Peer Tutoring center will be staffed and over 20 teachers will be here at different times during the night.  Please check the board in the cafeteria for more information about times.  The activity bus will run at the end of the night at 8:00 for students needing a ride from school.

Saturday the Varsity team wrestled hard and came up just short in the championship dual to take 2nd place at the Hornet Duals. The team finished 4-1 on the day defeating Staunton 83-0, Wilson ‘B’ 76-0, Stonewall Jackson 67-9, and Strasburg 51-20. 5-0 wresters on the day included Collin Castrina, Bryan Bradley, and Joey Burch with 5 wins by Pin Fall. The Wrestlers will attend a meet at Turner Ashby on Friday & Saturday this week. Good luck Warriors!

The Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated Albemarle Friday night, 49-47. Riley Prichard scored the winning shot in the last seconds of the game and he & Tommy Mangrum each had 17 points in the win.The Varsity Boys Basketball team travels to play at Monticello on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Make plans to be there!

The Varsity Girls Basketball team lost to Albemarle Friday night, 48-34. The team will prepare to play at Monticello on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. It is a Varsity Doubleheader so come out to support both WAHS teams!

The Freshman Boys basketball team won over Patrick Henry Saturday 44-32 and lost to William Fleming 46-25.

There are only two days left to sign up for the second semester parking lottery, the lottery will close tomorrow afternoon.. The lottery is only available to students who are current juniors who did not receive first-semester parking, and seniors who did not obtain a year-long parking permit.

Please check the lost & found bins located in A hall and the gym lobby for any of your missing items by this Friday, Dec. 13th. After this Friday the items in the lost & found bins will be donated

Current 11th and 12th graders who wish to enter the second semester lottery may begin to do so at this time by accessing the “19-20 WAHS Semester 2 Parking Lottery” link on the Western Albemarle High School homepage. Students must be logged in to their k12albemarle accounts in order to access the form. Only students who are current juniors who did not receive first-semester parking, and seniors who did not obtain a year-long parking permit are eligible for the lottery. On December 13, 2019 at 4:30pm the lottery entry form will be closed.

On Wednesday, during 2A block, WAHS will host Hollymead third graders to visit the tiny house and other stations. Please make them feel welcome.

There will be a meeting for everyone interested in helping backstage for The Addams Family, this Friday, in the auditorium, the first half of lunch.
