Students, just a reminder that parking at Henley during the school day is prohibited.

Students interested in participating in the robotics competition club please see Ms. Bertrand in the library for information about the next meeting. There are no requirements for joining other than willingness to learn and work on a team.

Freshman Class Officers applications are now available outside of Ms. Miracle’s room B201. If you are interested in running for Freshman Class Officer, pick up an application and return it by Friday, September 6th.

If you are interested in starting a club this year, pay attention for club applications available later this week outside of Ms. Miracle’s room B201. They will be due Friday, September 6th.

It’s not too late to do an Independent Study! Are you interested in designing your own class for the year? Want to learn something we don’t teach at WAHS? Into mythology, architectural design, organic chemistry, French literature beyond AP, wild food gathering, philosophy, behavioral economics, musical theory, dance, fashion design, game design? We’ve had students do all of this and more! Come see Ms. Padrón in B111 if you want to know more. Make that Study Hall something great!

The Athletic Department has launched a new website…www.wahswarriors.com. Fall Sport athletes & families should complete a Activity Registration and pay participation fees before regular season contests start next week. Cross Country, Volleyball & Field Hockey start the regular season on Tuesday, JV Football starts on Wednesday and Varsity Football on Friday.

After School weight training & conditioning will start on Monday. Students need to have a VHSL physical form turned in to the athletic office before starting conditioning. Last’s years physicals are not valid for this school year.

There will be a meeting at lunch next  Wednesday in D103 for all Boys Lacrosse players. The meeting will start at 12:20 – please be on time.

The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.

Athletic News**********

The Varsity Girls & Boys Tennis teams play today in State Singles competition. The matches begin at 10 am for the Semifinals and 1:00 p.m. for the Finals. The Doubles Tournament is tomorrow with Semifinals at 9 am and Finals at 11:00 a.m. The Warriors have both teams in the State Finals matches at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Team Tennis State Tournament. Go Warriors!

The Boys Varsity Soccer team plays in the Semifinals of the State Tournament on Friday at 11:00 a.m. The Varsity Girls Soccer team plays in the State tournament on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Finals will be held on Saturday. Come out to watch all the Warrior teams in Salem!

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team will play in  Finals of the Lacrosse State Tournament on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Good luck Warriors!

Athletes whose seasons are over should clean out their lockers and turn all equipment in to the athletic office before the end of school.

The Varsity Girls Tennis team won over Abingdon yesterday 5-0 to advance in the State Team Tennis tournament. The team will also have Corrine Jennings and Austin Winslow playing the State Singles and Doubles Tournament. The Varsity Boys Tennis team defeated Hidden Valley yesterday 5-0 to advance to the State Team Tennis Tournament. The team will have Gavin Segraves and Alex Ix playing in the Singles and Doubles Tournament . Singles & Doubles will be played at Roanoke College on Thursday.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team won 3-0 against Hidden Valley last night. The team advances to play in the State tournament on Friday .Games on Friday will be played at Salem High School. The Varsity Boys Soccer team won last night 7-3 against Lord Botetourt to advance to the State Semifinals on Friday this week. Games on Friday will be played at Salem High School. Good luck teams!

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team defeated Hidden Valley last night 10-5 to advance to the State finals on Saturday at Salem High School.

The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team lost to EC Glass last night 12-6. This ends the season for the Warriors!

The Varsity Girls Tennis  team will play Abingdon at 1:00 p.m. in the State Semifinals. The Varsity Boys Tennis Team will play Hidden Valley at 5:00 p.m. Both matches will be played at WAHS so come out and watch the action!

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team plays in the  State semifinals tonight at WAHS. Game time is 8:00 against Hidden Valley. Let’s get some fans there!

Athletes whose seasons are over should turn in their uniforms to their coach or the athletic office before the end of this week. Please also clean out your locker in the locker rooms if your season is over.

Congratulations to the Girls Track team on their third place finish at the State Meet.  The girls had an awesome start to the meet with the 4×800 team of Ella Taylor, Jenna Stutzman, Maeci Frank and Sterling Hull finishing in first place.  Second place finishers were Sterling in the 1600 and Mia Donalson in the pole vault.  Maeci Frank finished third in the 800.  Fourth place finishers were Kate Ratcliffe in the 1600 and 4×400 relay team of Ella Taylor, Sterling Hull, Maeci Frank and Elizabeth Davis. Sixth place finishers were Jenna Stutzman in the 800, Elizabeth Davis in the 400 and Megan Futty in the pole vault.  Eighth place finishers were Reagan Burton in the pole vault and Emily Winder in the 3200.

Congratulations to the Boys Track and Field team on their 2nd place finish at the State Championship on Friday and Saturday.  Joe Hawkes led the scoring for the Warriors with a individual state championship in the 3200 meter run, a 2nd place finish in the 1600 meter run and anchored the 4th place 4×800 relay.  Jack Eliason added to the scoring with a 2nd and 3rd place showing in the 3200 meter and 1600 meter runs and lead off leg on the 4×800 relay.  Ricky Weikle finished 2nd in the Pole Vault, Connor Pearson 2nd in the 300 Hurdles, Will Bonner 3rd in the 3200 meter run and 3rd leg of the 4×800 relay.  Eric Wilson was the 2nd leg on the 4×800 relay, Joseph Taylor 5th in the 3200, Chris Whittier 6th in the Pole Vault. Henry Sullivan and Stuart Terrill finished 7th in the 300 Hurdles and 3200 meter run respectively.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Soccer team for winning the Regional Championship last night. The team defeated Spotswood 6-2. The Varsity Boys Soccer team advances to the State tournament next week.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team lost to Monticello last night 1-0 in the Regional finals. The Varsity Girls Soccer  team advances to play in State tournament action next week.

The Boys and Girls Outdoor Track teams compete in the State track meet held on Friday and Saturday at Heritage High School in Lynchburg. Come out to support the teams!

Congratulations to Corrine Jennings for winning the Regional Singles Championship yesterday. Corinne paired up with Austin Winslow to win the Regional title in Doubles as well.  This advances them to the State Singles & Doubles tournament next week. The WAHS Varsity Team Tennis starts State tournament action on Saturday at WAHS playing Hidden Valley at 1:00 p.m.

The WAHS Varsity Boys Lacrosse team won the Regional Championship last night with a win over Midlothian 10-8.  The team advances to host in the State tournament on Saturday. Make plans to be there!

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team lost a close game with Monticello in the Regional finals last night 12-11. The team advances to State tournament play on Saturday at Salem High School. Good luck team!

The Varsity Girls Soccer team won over Fluvanna last night 5-0 in the Regional Semifinals. The Warriors will play in the Regional Finals on Thursday at Liberty Bedford High School. Come out and watch both WAHS Soccer teams!

The Varsity Boys Soccer team won over Rustburg last night in the Regional Semifinals 6-1. The team will play in the Regional Finals on Thursday at Liberty Bedford High School. Good luck Warriors!

The Varsity Girls Tennis team competes in the Regional Individual Tournament today. The matches are scheduled at WAHS and begin at 11:00 a.m. Corrine Jennings & Austin Winslow will compete for the Warriors!

The Varsity Boys Tennis team plays in the Regional Individual Tournament today. The matches are scheduled to be played at Heritage High School and start at 11:00 a.m. Gavin Segraves  & Alex Ix will compete for the WAHS team!

The WAHS football program will have a meeting today at 12:15  in D104 for any students interested in playing football for the first time at Western. This is strictly an informational meeting & will have a Q&A session to follow.

All Football players should report to a meeting on Thursday, May 30 at 12:15 in D104. This meeting is for all players planning on playing in the Fall.

The WAHS Spring Sports Awards program will be held tonight in the main gym. Athletes and families are invited to attend and should meet in the main gym at 6:30 p.m. The program will start at 7:00 p.m. Families should bring a dessert to share with the group. Drinks will be provided by Pepsi.
