Congratulations to our Fine Arts students, India Mawn, Tristan Rose, and Arina Bratkovska for winning the Rising Star Award this past Saturday at PVCC, for excellence in Visual Art, Vocal Performance and Theatre.

Attention all AP students: You must submit the remaining payment for your AP tests by 1 pm next Friday, April 26 or you will not be allowed to test.  Acceptable forms of payment are cash or a check made payable to Western Albemarle High School. Ms. Davis accepts payments in the counseling office every day until 1 pm. If you are not sure of how much you owe please stop by and ask her. If you are no longer intending on testing for an exam you registered for you must also let Ms. Davis know by the 26th. If you have any questions please see Ms. Davis or Ms. Barnes in the counseling office.

Mrs. Turner Warren’s Freshman Seminar class is collecting soda top tabs to support the Ronald McDonald House.  We will be distributing containers to collect the tabs for all classrooms.  The tabs will be recycled and the money will go to the Ronald McDonald House.

The JV & Varsity Girls Soccer teams travel to play at Albemarle tonight. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. Varsity takes the field at 7:00 p.m. Good luck teams!

The JV & Varsity Boys Soccer teams host Albemarle tonight at the WAHS turf field. Game time for JV is 5:30 with Varsity taking the field at 7:00 p.m. WAHS students get in free so let’s get some fans there!

The JV Baseball team travels to play at Waynesboro tonight at 5:30 p.m. The Varsity Baseball team hosts Waynesboro tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the baseball field. Come out to support the team!

The Wellness Ambassadors Club is showing the movie, Up, for free tomorrow evening, April 19 outside on the practice football field at 7 pm.  Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase with the proceeds benefiting  local Region 10 prevention efforts. Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on and join in on the fun!

Don’t forget to come out to the Senior patio during lunch for Battle of the Bands .

The Varsity Girls Soccer team won over Fluvanna last night, 3-0. The JV Girls Soccer team won 3-2. Both teams return to action on Monday against Albemarle.

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team played a close game with Monticello last night but lost 14-12. The JV Girls Lacrosse team won over Monticello 16-3. The JV & Varsity team travel to play Rockbridge on Friday. Game time for JV is 5:30 p.m. with Varsity at 7:00 p.m.

The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team lost to Atlee last night 15-5.The Boys Lacrosse teams host Monticello tonight at the WAHS turf field. Game time for JV is 5:30 pm with Varsity at 7:00 p.m. Come out to support the teams!

Today is the last day to buy prom tickets. Tickets will available in the cafeteria at lunch,  $20 for Seniors and $25 for juniors.

Today the Albemarle County Police Department will be here during lunch time to hold their annual Prom Pledge Challenge. Come by their table to sign a prom pledge form of not driving distracted or impaired and you will receive a free prom pledge t-shirt.

The job fair is at the high school at lunch today. Employers have lots of opportunities for you! Stop by the cafeteria and find out what is available. See Ms. Bertrand in the library for more information.

Seniors: who are planning to attend PVCC next year:  This is a reminder that PVCC admissions representatives will be in the LIBRAY at 1:00 to conduct on sight registration.  Please be sure that you have let your counselor know that you are interested in attending.  Students will receive passes and should bring their computers with them.

Juniors: The Counseling Department will be holding an informal Q & A session about the college application process on Wednesday during lunch in the small meeting room in the Library.  This is a follow up to the classroom conversations we had before spring break, and any juniors are welcome to join us!

Prom tickets will be for sale in the cafeteria at lunch. Permission forms for guests who don’t attend Western are available in the main office and must be turned in prior to ticket purchase. Tickets are $15 for Seniors and $20 for juniors.

The JV & Varsity Girls Lacrosse teams travel to play at Douglas Freeman High School today. Game time for JV is 5:00 p.m. with Varsity at 6:30 p.m. Good luck teams!

The JV & Varsity Boys Lacrosse teams host Douglas Freeman tonight at the WAHS turf field. Game time for JV is 5:30 p.m. Varsity starts at 7:15 p.m. WAHS students get in free so come out to cheer them on!

The Varsity Softball team hosts Monticello tonight at the WAHS Softball field. Game time is 6:00 p.m. The JV Softball team travels to play at Monticello tonight. Game time is also 6:00 p.m. Go Warriors!

The Varsity Baseball team plays at home tonight against Monticello. Game time is 6:30 p.m. The JV Baseball team plays at Monticello tonight at 6:00 p.m.

Come out to support the teams!

The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.

Students interested in summer jobs should email or see Ms. Bertrand. There will be a job fair at WAHS at lunch on April 12.

Applications for Executive Council of Leadership for next year are available now! Grab one from room B201. There will be interest meeting for everyone who wishes to run tomorrow during lunch in room B201. If you are unsure, about running or interested please come by at the beginning of lunch! Any student is welcome to run.

Prom tickets will be for sale in the cafeteria at lunch. Permission forms for guests who don’t attend Western are available in the main office and must be turned in prior to ticket purchase. Tickets are $15 for Seniors and $20 for juniors.

The Girls and Boys Tennis matches scheduled for today have been moved to Wednesday, April 10th.  The Varsity Boys team will play Monticello at WAHS and the Varsity Girls tennis team will play Monticello at the PVCC courts.

The Girls and Boys Soccer games scheduled for today have been rescheduled. The JV & Varsity Boys Soccer teams will play at Monticello on Wednesday, April 10th. The JV & Varsity Girls soccer teams will play Monticello at WAHS on April 26th. Check the athletics website for schedule changes.
