 If you are interested in auditioning for the spring musical, The Sound of Music, and have yet to attend an interest meeting, please come to the auditorium today during the first half of lunch.

WAHS Drama competed with their play, Tuna Fish Eulogy, Saturday at VHSL at Monticello HS. Congratulations to Evelyn Garey who won Best Actor award for her amazing performance.

On November 28 from 12:05-12:50, Karenne Wood will be here to talk to students. Dr. Wood is the Tribal Historian for the Monancan Indian Nation in addition to being a member of the Monacan Nation, published poet, and Director of the Virginia Indian Programs at the Virginia Humanities Foundation. She will be speaking about her work on preserving Native American culture, history, and language and the importance of understanding people with different cultural traditions for Native American Heritage month. Please join us in the library that Wednesday to hear her.

Winter Season games and events start after the Thanksgiving break so winter sport athletes need to make sure to have their physicals,  participation fees & signature forms turned in to the athletic office in order to participate.

Season passes for winter sports are on sale in the athletic office and will be offered at the first few games of the season. Look on the athletics website for more information.

The Rho Kappa induction ceremony is tonight at 7:00 in the cafeteria.  Togas recommended.

40 members of the WAHS Model UN team participated in VAMUN, the Model UN simulation held at the University of Virginia.   Three WAHS students were awarded Honorable Mentions for their work:   Senior Thomas Jackson, in the Jefferson Committee on Diplomacy – Crisis, which was set during an attempted prison break at Alcatraz; junior Chloe Kienzle, in the JCD trial of Saddam Hussein, and junior Ben Lenox, in the Vietnam War committee.  Congratulations to all for their hard work.

Athletic News**********

The Varsity Football team lost to Liberty Bedford Friday night, 35-14 in the Regional semifinals. The Warriors finished with a 9-3 record this season.

Winter sports athletes need to have their participation fees & signature forms turned in to the athletic office before being eligible for the winter season. Physicals dated after May 1, 2018 should be received as well.

Seniors Applying to College:  Seniors are reminded that any college applications with January deadlines require you to bring your SIGNED, blue Transcript Request Form to your counselor by today, November 16.  Please see your counselor with any questions.

Pride and Prejudice is this weekend! Tonight at 7pm, and Saturday at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at the door. Adult tickets are  $8 and student tickets are $5.

There will be a second interest meeting for everyone who wants to audition for the spring musical, The Sound of Music. If you have not yet attended a meeting, this is mandatory if you are going to try out. The interest meeting will be Monday in the auditorium during the first half of lunch.

There will also be a meeting for everyone interested in being stage manager or assistant director for our spring musical, The Sound of Music, today, first half of lunch, in the auditorium.

All new members of Math Honor Society need to turn in their $10 dues to Ms. Lohr today. Please talk to Ms. Lohr if you are unable to pay for any reason. All members also need to fill out the tutoring form that was emailed to you if you have not done so already. Our next meeting will be December 7th

It’s Game day for the  Football Regional Semifinals!  The Warriors will host Liberty Bedford tonight at 7:00 p.m. Wear your warmest WAHS gear and come out to the game tonight! Discounted tickets for use by WAHS students will be sold in the athletic office and at lunch today for $ 4.00 for the first 200 WAHS students!

The WAHS Theater group will present their play at the Regional Theater Festival on Saturday at Monticello High School. Good luck!

The Scholastic Bowl team will compete tonight at Louisa County High School. The meet will begin at 6:00 p.m. Good luck team!

WAHS has the pleasure of hosting moderators today to expand the conversations started in The Hate U Give book club. The dialogue will take place in the library beginning at the start of lunch and ending at 1:30. The goal is to bring our community together to discuss issues of race and our society. In order to maintain a safe space, the library will be closed to non-participants

The Fall Sports Awards program will be held tonight in the main gym. Fall sport athletes and families are invited to attend and meet in the main gym at 6;30 p.m. Please bring a desert to share with the group. Drinks will be provided by Pepsi. The program will start at 7:00 p.m.

The Winter Sports Parents meeting will be held on Wednesday night in the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Winter sport parents should plan to be at this meeting to get information about athletics and meet with your athletes team group.

Athletic News**********

Congratulations to the Warrior Boys Cross Country team on winning the State Championship on Friday. Joe Hawkes, Jack Eliason, Cyrus Rody-Ramazani and Joseph Taylor swept the top four places. Will Bonner finished thirteenth to also get on the individual award podium. Stuart Terrill and Thomas Kallen finished strong to help increase the point spread on the other teams in the championship. The Warriors scored 21 to outdistance the runner up Christiansburg team. Congratulations also goes to the Senior class team members to be the first WAHS Cross Country class to win 3 State Championships during their tenure as Warrior Harriers.

The WAHS Girls Cross Country team was State Runner Up this weekend. The team was led by first year runner Sterling Hull in 5th place.  The other Varsity runners were Jenna Stutzman, Kate Ratcliffe, Emily Winder, Alyssa-Santoro-Adajian, Caroline McGahren and Michal Kipnis.  Congratulations girls!

The Varsity Football team defeated Rockbridge Friday night , 33-17. The team advances  to have a home game this week against Liberty-Bedford on Friday night in the Regional semifinals. Game time 7:00 p.m. Let’s get a great home crowd there for the team!

The Girls and Boys Cross Country teams compete in the State Cross Country meet at Great Meadows today. The action begins with the Girls Race at 11:45 am and the Boys Race at 12:30 p.m.  Good luck teams!

The Varsity Football team hosts Rockbridge tonight in the Regional Quarterfinals. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at lunch today for $ 4.00 for use by the first 200 WAHS students. Discounted Tickets are sponsored by WAFA & Athletics. Tickets at the gate are $ 7.00 and post season rules apply. Come early to be in the stands for kick off!

Students trying out for winter sports need to have their physicals, participation fees & signature forms turned in to the athletic office.

Athletic News***********

The Varsity Volleyball team played tough and  won last night in the Regional quarterfinals over Monticello, 3-0. The team advances in the Regional tournament next week.

The Varsity Field Hockey team won 4-2 in shootout. Goals were scored by Reese Momorella, Sophie Lanahan, Erica Repich & Jane Servine. Great goalkeeping by Addie Patterson & Emily Sposato in the game. The team advances in tournament play next week.

The Varsity Football  team will host Albemarle tonight at the WAHS stadium. It will be Senior night for the Warriors so make plans to be there! Discounted tickets will be sold at lunch on Thursday for use by WAHS students. Tickets at lunch will be $ 4.00.

The Girls locker room will close at 4:45 p.m. today due to the home football game. Please use D101 to store personal belongings for practices.

This is the last week for afterschool weight training and conditioning for fall season.
