Athletic Announcements

 ~The Varsity Boys Soccer team will play in the State Semifinals at Roanoke College on Friday. Game time is 10:00 a.m. The Varsity Girls Soccer team will play at Roanoke College in the State Semifinals on Friday at 12:00 p.m. Tickets are $ 10.00. Come out to cheer for all the Warrior teams!

~The WAHS Tennis teams will compete in the Singles and Doubles Tournaments Thursday and Friday. The Varsity Boys Tennis team will play in the Team Tennis tournament Finals on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Roanoke College. Tickets are $ 10.00 Let’s get some fans there to cheer them on!

~Athletes whose seasons are over should turn in their uniforms to their coach or the athletic office before the end of school. Lockers will be cleaned out in the boys and girls locker rooms so be sure and get your things out of the locker room today.

~The Varsity Girls Soccer team won over Lord Botetourt last night 1-0 and will advance to the State Semifinals at  Roanoke College on Friday. The Varsity Boys Soccer team won their game with Lord Botetourt last night 2-1 to advance to the State Semifinals. Their game will be played at Roanoke College on Friday.  Check out the athletics website for times of the games so you can come down and watch all of the WAHS teams competing!

~The Varsity Boys Tennis team won over Hidden Valley yesterday 5-0. The team will advance to play at Roanoke College on Saturday in the State tournament. The Warriors have Gavin Segraves competing in the State singles tournament on Thursday. Gavin and Alex IX will compete in the Doubles tournament on Friday.

 

The Varsity Girls Tennis team played a tough game with Cave spring yesterday but lost 5-4. The team has Hannah Kearns competing in the singles tournament on Thursday and Hannah teams up with Corinne Jennings in the Doubles tournament on Friday.

 

The Varsity baseball team lost to Abingdon last night 6-3.

 

The Outdoor Track State meet will continue today with Pole Vaulting taking place at Lynchburg College. Go Warriors!

 

Athletes whose seasons are over should turn in their uniforms and equipment to their coaches or the athletic office before school is out. Lockers in the boys and girls locker rooms should be cleaned out as well.

~The Varsity Boys Tennis team will host Hidden Valley today in the State Semifinals of the Team Tennis tournament at 1:00 p.m. The Varsity Girls Tennis Team hosts Cave Spring at 3:00 p.m. in the State Semifinals. Come by the courts to support the Warriors!

~Congratulations to the WAHS Boys and Girls Tennis teams for winning their State Quarterfinal matches on Saturday. The Varsity Boys Tennis team won over Cave Spring 5-0 and the Varsity Girls Tennis team defeated Abingdon 5-2. The Varsity Boys Tennis team will host Hidden Valley on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with the Varsity Girls Tennis Team hosting Cave Spring at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Come by the courts to support the teams!

Congratuations to Ricky Weikle, Brandon Allen and Aimee Schill on their 8th place finish at Destination Imagination Global Finals.  They competed against 85 teams from 18 countries and 34 states to achieve this award.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team won in the Regional Tournament yesterday. The team defeated Rockbridge, 8-0. The Varsity Girls Soccer team will host Liberty at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Come out to see both  soccer teams play!

The Varsity Boys soccer team won 3-0 over Waynesboro yesterday in the Regional tournament. The Boys Soccer team will host Liberty today at the WAHS turf field at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $ 8.00 for both soccer games!

The Varsity Baseball team won over Brookville yesterday 3-2. The team travels today to play at Turner Ashby High School. Game time 7:00 p.m. Good luck team!

The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team travels to play Midlothian High School today. The game is scheduled  to be played at Midlothian High School. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Go Warriors!

The Varsity Girls and Boys Tennis teams compete in the Regional Singles and Doubles tournaments this week. Good luck !

The Spring Sports Awards Program will be held tonight in the main gym at 6:30 p.m. There will be a general session that starts at 7:00 p.m. then teams break out into classrooms to do team awards. Parents and Athletes are invited to attend and bring a dessert to share with the group.

There will be a meeting at lunch today at 12:20 for any students interested in playing football next season.

~Students if you are attending the Academic Awards Ceremony tomorrow, Wednesday May 23rd please be sure to report to your 2nd period class for attendance before heading to the ceremony.

~Anyone who did not have an opportunity to vote for class officers for the 2018-2019 school year please stop by B 201 or B 202 to fill out a ballot.

~The Musical Theatre class will be performing their end of year showcase on the 25th.

~All National English Honor Society Dues are to be turned in by Wednesday to Mrs. Kompelien in B212.

~There will be a meeting of all newly inducted National Honor Society members on Thursday during lunch in Mrs. Lovaglio’s room, B218.  If you cannot attend, please see Ms. Hoza or Mrs. Lovaglio prior to the meeting.

~The Varsity Boys Tennis team defeated Spotswood in the Regional Team Tennis tournament yesterday, 5-0. The team returns to Regional play at WAHS on Wednesday afternoon.

~The Varsity Girls Tennis team won over Rockbridge in the Regional tournament yesterday, 5-0. The team will play at WAHS on Wednesday afternoon in Regional Tournament play.

~The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team hosts Powhatan tonight in Regional tournament action. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Post season rules apply for this game so WAHS students & county employees will need to purchase a ticket for $ 6.00 at the gate. Come out to cheer on the team!

~The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team will play in the Regional Tournament today against Monacan High School. The game will be played at the River City Complex in Midlothian. Game time is 5:30 p.m. Good luck Warriors!

~The Varsity Softball team won over CHS last night, 7-2. The JV & Varsity Softball teams are scheduled to play at Fluvanna today. Game time for JV is 5:00 p.m. with Varsity at 7:00 p.m.

~The Varsity Girls Soccer team won at Fluvanna last night, 9-0. The JV Girls soccer team also won their game at Fluvanna, 5-0. The Varsity Girls Soccer  team will advance to post season play next week.

~The Varsity Boys Soccer team won over Fluvanna last night, 1-0. The JV Boys Soccer team won 2-0. The Varsity Boys Soccer team will enter post season play next week.

~The Varsity Baseball team won over CHS last night, 6-3. The team will travel today to play at Fluvanna. Game time 6:30 p.m. The JV Baseball team is scheduled to host Fluvanna tonight at 6:00 p.m. Drop by the field to see the team in action !

~Seniors if you need to take an exam this week please don’t forget to sign up through signup genius, you can find the link on the WAHS home page. You can also pick up an exam schedule in the front office.

~ Attention Seniors:  You are required to complete the Senior Survey before you graduate!  Please log into Naviance, Click the “About Me” tab at the top, then click on the survey located on the left hand side of the screen.  This should take you less than ten minutes to complete, and is required of all seniors.  Please see your counselor with any questions.

~Attention Seniors:  All library books checked out to seniors are now due to be returned.  Please take care of this ASAP so you won’t have a problem later as your graduation approaches.  If you need to keep a book to finish a project, come by the library and let us know that.  Otherwise, turn those library books in NOW!

~Also Seniors, All outstanding senior balances to the cafeteria are due now. Please make every effort settle your accounts this week. Avoid the long lines and stress before graduation and take care of this now. Seniors with positive balances may transfer leftover monies to a sibling or ask for a refund. You may ask for the form from a cashier during Breakfast, TAB, or lunch.

~The 2018 WAHS yearbook has arrived. Books will be distributed today at lunch. Look for the table in the cafeteria.

~Send your favorite seniors a goodbye gift!  Buy a gift of Hershey kisses, 4 for $1, this week at lunch at the Hershey Kiss a Senior Goodbye table in the cafeteria.  Write a note to the seniors you will miss next year and show them your appreciation for their time at Western!

  • Many students make special efforts to avoid final To be exempt from a final exam the student must earn a grade of 90 or higher for the 2nd Semester, have no in-school suspensions in that particular class during the 2nd Semester, no out-of-school suspensions nor Honor Council convictions for the year.

~Seniors! Do you like free Chick-Fil-A, outdoor games, and hanging with the best class ever?! If so, you should totally go on the senior trip Friday, May 25th to Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro. This might be your last opportunity to chill with your classmates before starting the next chapter in your lives. Please pick up a permission form in your Government class or in the front office, and return it (signed) by Friday, May 18th.

Avoid the long lines and stress before graduation and take care of this now. Seniors with positive balances may transfer leftover monies to a sibling or ask for a refund. You may ask for the form from a cashier during Breakfast, TAB, or lunch.

~And lastly seniors, don’t forget to return your laptop and charger on May 17th and 18th. If you don’t return your laptop , you won’t be able to participate in the graduation ceremony. All seniors will return their laptop and charger in their government classes. If you need your laptop for exams, just tell your government teacher during our laptop collection days. Also, if you would like to backup the data on your computer or transfer your files from Google Drive, please visit the student tab on the WAHS Website for instructions. Remember, senior laptop collection is on Thursday, May 17th and Friday, May 18t. hPlease see Ms. Hughes or Mr. Showers if you have any questions.

~ The 2018 WAHS yearbook has arrived. Books will be distributed today at lunch. Look for the table in the cafeteria.

~Send your favorite seniors a goodbye gift!  Buy a gift of Hershey kisses, 4 for $1, this week at lunch at the Hershey Kiss a Senior Goodbye table in the cafeteria.  Write a note to the seniors you will miss next year and show them your appreciation for their time at Western!

~Any new National Honor Society member interested in running for an officer position should pick up a form from Mrs. Lovaglio in B218.  Completed forms are due by this Friday, May 18th to Mrs. Lovaglio or Ms. Hoza.

~Today & tomorrow will be the last time this year that Ms. Shuey and Ms. Perkins will be available for before school math tutoring.

~Parking sticker for rising SENIORS are on sale today through Friday. If you want to secure your parking spot for next year please MAKE SURE TO  HAVE YOUR  COMPLETED APPLICATION AND $35.00 IN BY MAY 18TH.

~ Attention rising juniors(current sophomores). REMAING PARKING STICKERS  will go on sale Monday, May 21st through June 4th. Those rising  juniors who have returned their completed application and $35.00 beginning May 21st  will be able to park in the junior spots starting on May 29th this school year!

~The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team lost at Monticello last night 17-11. The JV Girls Lacrosse team won 11-10. Both teams play today at Atlee High School. The JV game is at 5:30 p.m. with Varsity at 7:00 p.m. Go Warriors!

~The Girls and Boys Outdoor Track teams take part in a meet at Fluvanna High School today. The meet begins at 2:00 p.m. Good luck teams!

~The Varsity Boys Soccer team hosts Monticello today at the WAHS turf field. Game time is 6:00 p.m. Come out to cheer them on!

~The JV Boys Lacrosse tam plays at Blue Ridge School today. Game time is 5:00 p.m.

~Cheerleading tryouts are this Thursday and  Friday 4 pm-6pm. Please pick up tryout packet outside of the clinic.

~Any weather related changes to the practice and game schedule will be posted to the athletics website as soon as they are confirmed.

~The activity bus will run at 6:45 p.m.
